Why was NATUR-PACK, a.s. established?
Packaging is a constant presence in modern life. It is used, for instance, to pack various products, foodstuff and household appliances. Waste from this packaging is collected by municipalities, i.e. cities and towns. In accordance with the Act on Packaging the obliged persons shall ensure the collection, recovery or recycling of packaging waste at least within the scope of the binding targets set in Government Ordinance No. 220/2005 Coll. (in Slovak)
At present, the waste packaging market is distorted; virtual trade in recycling receipts is booming as a result of which obliged persons have no legal security of complying with the mentioned regulations and standards, neither can material and financial flows of the collection, recovery and recycling of individual commodities (glass, paper, plastics, etc.) be transparently monitored. There is no one to care for needs of obliged persons with respect to their meeting the binding recycling targets and making this process more efficient.
The establishment of NATUR-PACK, a.s. is a reaction to the unsatisfactory situation in packaging waste recycling and recovery in Slovakia and the inadequate supply of these services by authorized organizations.
